The Start of Something...

Updated: Mar 29

Have you ever had a vision or an idea but didn't know where or how to start? An idea that you can see in your head...you know how you want it to look, feel & transpire, but you don't know how to make it happen?

Maybe it's starting a specific project, pursuing a degree or certification, or taking a step into a whole new career field. No matter what it is, you still have to embrace the vulnerability & actually move beyond the starting line.

It's easy to talk about starting something new, but it's a whole different ball game to put in the work to bring an idea to life. And to be honest, it's intimidating.

For me, it's this exact post & site.

I've done my research, I've compared platforms, I'm learning more about best practices in blogging & website management, set a few goals, honed in a niche & have secured a domain name.

Yet here I am, with my feet planted at the starting line for weeks with the intent of writing a great intro post to kick off Another Education Blog.

-Should I jump into the heart of the content & begin sharing my own classroom experiences?

-Should I start by sharing my learning experiences outside of the classroom in a support position?

-Maybe I should start with something a bit more lighthearted and silly.

-What about a "top 5 tips" post? Those always suck me in.

-Probably something systematic and orderly. People (me) like intention.

-Maybe I need to create a post that is specific to the state of education right now.

-Or maybe something targeted specifically to special education, a field that I am very familiar with.

-Maybe I should review a professional read from years past.

-Should I pull one of the 15+ topic ideas that I've jotted down & start there with no real rhyme or reason to content output?

Clearly, I just went to share the raw vulnerability required to step beyond a comfort zone and smack dab into something brand new.

If you're familiar with Jon Acuff, you know that he advocates for goal-setting, strategizing & prioritizing when you're tackling something for the first time. In fact, he has a new podcast series titled All It Takes Is A Goal with a specific episode that breaks down the steps of starting something new.

So here lies the pilot post of Another Education Blog.

The first post.

Like, ever. (in your best T. Swift voice)

These are the words that will push Another Education Blog's feet off of the starting line.

What's to come in the future? Frankly, I hope what you find to be added value to your professional toolbox.

Here's a sneak peek at what's hanging out in the draft folder.

I hope you'll stick around to see where this thing goes!
